very season, we gather together, make a crazy plan, and then set out to some uncharted corner of the planet. But fall and winter is a time of reflection, and so we took a look around us -- the West Coast is a pretty magnificent place. Actually, it’s entirely breathtaking. We filled up a car with good people, inspiring books and our favorite music, and trekked down the highway to see what’s ours. Port cities and the stunning nature nearby set the standard for our two thousand thirteen collection. Days of moody skies inspired an array of deep colors and cozy fabrics ready for layering. We think that you’ll love bundling up in it just as much as we do.
Fall 2013 - Port Life
During this season of transformation, the coastal cities we love and know so well present themselves to us in a new way. The mist and fog grow around buildings, softening their architecture. Leafless trees contrast the skyline. Taking our cue from nature’s darker mood, we pulled together rich hues, textured knits, and durable fabrics. We can feel the weather shifting around us as we wander down familiar roads that now seem a little bit stranger. Live, travel, adventure… and don’t be sorry, as Kerouac once said.
Below are some captures of the seasonal shoot I directed in the format of spreads that can be found in the 120 page catalogue I laid out and produced.
Winter 2013 - Slow Down
We follow the rivers to the sea. The dance between wind, sand and beach grass captures the dreamer in all of us. This must be the place. Standing near the shore at the tip of the West Coast, we watch the drama of winter unfold against the rough landscape. We drove all through the night to get here and watched the dawn break through the fog. Winter wear is all about the finer details. Cuffs and collars make all the difference. Thoughtful accents added to both sides of our designs make for clothes that work in the weather and feel extra amazing against your skin.
We’ve learned by now to ignore the rush and we’re just enjoying these paths we’re travelling on.
Creative & Art Direction
On top of designing the collection for this season I also directed the seasonal photoshoot and all marketing materials for it.
