Lifetime Collective Spring / Summer 2015

F

ounded in 2002 by myself and Reid Stewart , beneath a buzzing light bulb in a dingy basement suite, The Lifetime Collective™ began as a collaborative group of artists and friends. With clothing as the main focus, our brand was inspired by the communities they live in, the places we travel to, and the curious characters that surround us. It was a family-spirited operation receptive to ideas that are shifting and paths that are twisting.
More than a “brand of lifestyle,” Lifetime was defined by the changes that occur and the creative ways we adapt. In fact, the theme of Lifetime should have been, “a work in progress,” as it was ever-changing and far from finished, a dream never fully realized.

Spring / Summer 2015

At home out here.
For us, inspiration exists everywhere -- it’s a saying we keep close to our hearts -- but this season we culled our prints and colour stories from our constant favourite: the wide expanses of our playground at home, and the urban lifestyle characterized by the valleys and beaches we’re so fortunate to have nearby. The living is good here along the Pacific Northwest of Canada.

Thoughtful fabric choices, natural fibres, and calm earth tones dictate the mood of our seasonal offering of quality garments. We’ve been collecting artist’s ceramics at the studio lately, and we created this season’s custom-crafted prints with the depth and richness of textured glazes and bespoke stoneware in mind. There is always a unique character to the handmade, which is why our prints are made in-house each season. We translated our love for our laid-back coastal life into an array of designs and cuts that are as clean and refreshing as the salty ocean air that moves around us here. The arid landscape from a recent trip to LA is where we snapped photographs of its rugged succulent plant life. When we developed our film back at home we thought, what better way to keep pushing forward new possibilities for floral? We worked these overpainted images onto an exclusive series of menswear shorts and an easy going button up. Crafted for those cool springs days leading up to solstice in mind.

It’s amazing that we get to look out onto the mountains from every corner of our stunning city. Within the streets of this vibrant place, we always know they’re never that far. They beckon us, and we follow.
